Putin Campaign Headquarters Opens for First Time Since Candidacy
Vladimir Putin made a notable appearance at the campaign headquarters as he enters the 2024 Russian presidential race. According to reporting from TASS, the scene at the headquarters reflected a formal milestone for the candidate and his team.
Staff and volunteers were on hand as journalists observed. The event began with Putin meeting with volunteers and the co-chairs who help steer the campaign, demonstrating the candidate’s active involvement in the organization of his bid.
Earlier reports noted the visit by a Great Patriotic War veteran, Antonina Belozerova, who shared her support for Putin with the younger audience at the headquarters. She delivered a message of encouragement and urged the youth to engage with the political process.
Putin has committed to running as his own candidate in the upcoming elections. At this stage, campaign organizers claim strong grassroots backing, with millions of signatures gathered across Russia. They indicate that more than 2.5 million signatures have been collected, surpassing the 300 thousand required threshold, and that the deadline to submit these signatures to the Central Election Commission remains January 31. Volunteers and supporters from United Russia and the Popular Front have played key roles in the collection effort.
The presidential elections are scheduled to take place between March 15 and March 17, 2024. In addition to traditional voting, 29 precincts are expected to offer remote electronic voting to accommodate voters who cannot cast ballots in person.
In a related development, a former State Duma member commented on concerns regarding foreign interference in the election process within the Russian Federation, underscoring the ongoing discourse around election security and sovereignty.
