Former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko has traveled out of Ukraine for a third time, a move confirmed by Victoria Syumar, a deputy from the European Solidarity faction. On social media, Poroshenko himself said he was departing for the European People’s Party summit held in the Netherlands.
The first attempt to leave the country occurred on Friday, May 27. Poroshenko arrived with an escort at the Rava-Ruska border crossing in Lviv, presenting border officials with copies of a parliamentary order for a business trip and a letter from a parliamentary staff member to the Lithuanian authorities. At that moment, he intended to travel to Vilnius for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. However, the border guards questioned the authenticity of the documents and a QR code was not recognized, halting the process on two occasions. MP Irina Gerashchenko later stated that Poroshenko was not allowed to depart the country
