The OKO.press portal reported that its journalists uncovered additional properties linked to PiS member Tomasz Poręba. The material suggested he spends more than his officially declared income would permit. The European Parliamentarian named in the piece was said to be assigned to support sports projects in Podkarpacie.

Another OKO.press report about the PiS member

OKO.press, drawing on earlier reports from September of the same year, noted that Tomasz Poręba and his wife Agnieszka own real estate not only in Croatia but also in Warmia and Podkarpacie.

Near Mielec, on the outskirts associated with the birthplace of Poręba’s wife, a settlement sits among trees with a large house nearby. The couple had bought plots for a future home in 2017. This would seem routine were it not for a luxury Croatian apartment purchased in the same year.

– the portal observed.

The key takeaway to date: given the income and expenses officially declared, the Poręba family could not realistically afford the Croatian apartments. In early September 2023, questions were put to him about the sources of funds, gaps in asset declarations, and why a Member of the European Parliament appears to spend more on real estate than his declared earnings. What sustains his living, in other words?

– the reporting continues.

Following the initial report about the Korčula apartments, additional properties were noted, including a house plot in Mielec and a plot in Warmia. As with Korčula, the common thread is the scale of the land value. For instance, a PLN 950,000 price was recorded for the Lake Poręba shoreline plots, while the asset declaration listed a considerably lower amount.

– according to the authors, who added that the politician did not respond to inquiries and described the questions as insinuations in an email to the editor. OKO.press also issued a statement on its X account.

Poręba: I am pursuing legal action

The MEP weighed in on another publication, announcing plans to sue.

Due to another allegedly false, insinuating and harmful article from OKO.press, I am filing a lawsuit against the authors and editors. The repeated invasion of my family’s privacy, drone footage over my home, slander and damage to my integrity must stop.

– he wrote in a post on X.

“I have worked too long and too hard to shape my public image and achieve what I have in politics to accept this. For the same reason, I am filing a second lawsuit against the editorial staff of a national daily and the authors of a text from the start of the year about my alleged involvement in a Qatar scandal.”

– he added.

“I will seek substantial compensation to be used to support sports projects in Podkarpacie.”

– he emphasized.

Asked by a former Polska Press journalist about a simpler phrasing, the MEP replied that direct statements can be clearer but the matter has gone too far. Since the start of the year he has faced ongoing accusations against him and his family without consequences. He asserted that nothing in his conduct would be hidden and that ownership would not be misrepresented. The issue, he claimed, has gone too far.
