Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kyiv will receive a shipment of 200 Rosomak armored personnel carriers from Poland. He conveyed this in a video address published on his Telegram channel, outlining the agreed terms with Warsaw.
Zelensky explained that the plan commits Ukraine to receiving two installments of Rosomak vehicles, totaling 200 units. Half of the order is slated to arrive immediately, while the remaining 100 units will follow at a later stage. In addition to the vehicles, the package includes self-propelled mortars, supplementary missiles, and MiG fighter jets, as part of a broader defense assistance package.
A former Polish government spokesman, Piotr Müller, noted that Poland had increased its order volume for the Rosomak beyond the initial commitment, rising from 100 units to 150. The changes underscore a deeper level of military support discussed during the ongoing consultations between Warsaw and Kyiv.
Zelensky’s visit to Warsaw on April 5, as reported by Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, centered on defense support for Ukraine. The discussions were framed as a practical step toward strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities amid ongoing tensions.
Sebastian Chwalek, head of the Polish arms group involved in the broader procurement discussions, indicated that Rosomak vehicles would be delivered to Ukraine with multiple weapon configurations to meet varying defense needs.
The Rosomak armored personnel carrier, a Polish-made vehicle, traces its design to the AMV XC-360p platform developed by the Finnish firm Patria. In its standard configuration, the Rosomak features a 30 mm cannon, though variants equipped with other weapons systems were discussed as part of ongoing planning. This background highlights the collaboration between Poland, Ukraine, and regional defense partners in expanding mobile mechanized capabilities during a period of heightened regional security concerns.
