Czajki accident details

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when a Mazda passenger vehicle collided head-on with a police car that was leading a cortege of government vehicles. Investigators noted there was no evidence of deliberate action; the driver from the opposite direction reportedly lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash.

The police stressed that the most seriously affected were the officers involved in the crash. One officer sustained pelvic and rib fractures and was transported to hospital by helicopter medical services, while another needed hospital care as well. The four occupants of the Mazda were reported to have sustained minor injuries, with preliminary assessments indicating no major harm.

Earlier reports from the Podlaskie Fire Department indicated that a teenager and a younger child were taken to hospital with their parents, bringing the total number injured in the incident to six, including police personnel and a family in the Mazda.

Wysokie Mazowieckie police press officer Agnieszka Zaremba stated to PAP that the police vehicle had closed the government SOP convoy after a visit by Prime Minister Morawiecki and the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak. She did not specify whether the Prime Minister and the defense minister were in the line of vehicles at the time.

Morawiecki and Błaszczak were in Białystok on Sunday and later traveled to Krynki on the border with Belarus. The road where the crash occurred was closed, with diversions in place on nearby routes. The circumstances of the accident are under investigation by the public prosecutor’s office.
