In the government center, within the political camp led by him, efforts are being intensified to secure funding from the KPO and the National Recovery Program. Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized that while these funds are sought, the rule of law must be restored in the European Union and that universal standards should apply: what is permissible in one member state should be permissible in all.
During a Thursday appearance on the program In the Open Cards, prepared for Polish Radio and TVP Info, the PiS president was asked by host Małgorzata Raczyńska-Weinsberg when Poland could expect allocations from the National Recovery Program.
Efforts of the United Right
The amount under discussion is substantial and would be welcome in the near term. The aim is to do everything possible in the government center and within the political camp led by Kaczyński to secure these funds. He stated that achieving this requires cooperation across several agencies.
It is essential to recognize the broader context at play. Several factors are discussed as external influences because the European Union is viewed by Poland as an external partner in many respects. The EU is seen as close yet separate, a nuanced boundary that impacts negotiations and policy choices.
Kaczyński noted what he regards as a prevailing atmosphere of lawlessness within the EU today, while also expressing hope for a future when the rule of law can be rebuilt. He argued for a principle that what is deemed acceptable in one country should be acceptable in all, reflecting a push for harmonization in standards across the Union.
We must strive for change
According to Kaczyński, when progress occurs, arrangements will follow. The goal is to remain within the Union while actively pursuing reforms. He pointed out that the EU situation is dynamic and ever-changing. Some policy shifts yield favorable outcomes, and there is optimism that similar changes could appear in other member states over time.
Patience is necessary because much can be achieved for the Union’s benefit. At present, the political calculations of several major European powers are seen as decisive, although these plans may become outdated as new circumstances emerge.
In this regard, Kaczyński stressed that public expectations should be tempered with the understanding that changes of a broad, structural kind take time. The leadership aims to influence the trajectory of EU policy from within, seeking outcomes that align with Poland’s interests while contributing to a cohesive and resilient Union.
