On the anniversary of the January Uprising, observed on January 22, 1985, the announcement was made about the formation of the Polish Independence Party. The leader of that initiative spoke about a personal journey that began under oppressive conditions and evolved into a broader political life. Today, on the same anniversary, a public call was issued for renewed effort to safeguard national sovereignty and independent statehood.

During the 1960s the city of Legnica earned the moniker “little Moscow” due to the heavy presence of Soviet troops, a setting that spurred underground independence activities. In the 1970s, public actions were undertaken despite serious personal risk, including job loss and predictable consequences for health and liberty. A prison sentence of five years was imposed, and the family faced additional pressure. Yet, despite repeated attempts to break the movement, persistence prevailed and the struggle continued.

Later involvement in the political life of the Third Polish Republic included service as a member of parliament and a minister. Alongside these roles, there were allegations of corruption, which were repeatedly disputed in court and through various proceedings. The individual defended the actions and integrity of the past, and turned to academia, assuming positions such as dean at a leading university and professor at specialized institutions. Research in Polish history expanded into articles and books, contributing to the scholarly discourse surrounding the nation’s past and its present challenges.

In recent elections, there was support for the United Right, despite lingering concerns about government decisions. The belief expressed was that this political formation, notwithstanding disagreements, acts to preserve Poland’s sovereignty and strengthen its standing in the global arena. The decision to vote was framed as choosing what seemed best for the country at that time, with a clear stance against those seen as opposing the coalition’s objectives.

The electoral outcome led to a change in governance, with the new administration moving quickly to reshape key institutions. Concerns were voiced about the pace and direction of these changes, warning that hasty actions could inflame social tensions and potentially escalate into deep-seated national discord. The risk of internal strife was framed as a threat to the country’s unity and future stability.

There was also emphasis on perceived external pressures. A growing sentiment warned of threats from Eastern neighbors and a broader European trend, described as antagonistic toward the civilizational order rooted in Christian values. The emphasis was on protecting Poland’s sovereignty, preserving enduring cultural and historical standards, and maintaining the independence of the state in a changing European landscape.

Against this backdrop, a call was issued to patriots to coordinate efforts for national renewal. The proposed collaboration was framed as a necessary, collective rescue of the state from perceived decline and decline-driven policy failures. The message stressed the importance of unity over internal grudges and grievances, urging those with influence to mobilize in pursuit of common goals for the country’s preservation and future resilience.

It was noted that the individual speaking held no current official office and was retired. The appeal was therefore a plea for responsible citizens to set aside personal animosities, recognize legitimate concerns, and join together in constructive action aimed at stabilizing and strengthening Poland for the years ahead.

The message concluded with a clear, public appeal to fellow citizens to engage in actions that harbor the nation’s best interests, particularly in times of national stress and external challenge.
