The security budget of Poland and Poland

In a live Facebook broadcast on a Thursday evening, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke about the draft budget law for 2024. He framed the budget as a safeguard for Poland, emphasizing its role in supporting financial markets and ensuring national security across physical, health, and social dimensions.

Morawiecki said the government’s plan includes significant increases in key areas. He highlighted rising inflation, noting that even a 6.6 percent forecast for next year and a potential climb beyond 12 percent would require reinforced allocations. These increases would touch the entire budget sphere, including the border guard, state fire service, the army, soldiers, and police, with the aim of maintaining and strengthening safety mechanisms at this critical moment.

At the same time, he drew attention to planned boosts in spending on health care, district hospitals, and social programs. He stressed that the government would not only preserve existing social initiatives but would also expand them.

He also referenced the process of adopting the 2024 draft law, noting that the budget would move from the government to the Social Dialogue Council and then to the Sejm for consideration. The Prime Minister framed this as a responsible approach that anchors Poland’s economic stability in challenging times.

“Tusk was the prime minister of Polish unemployment”

Morawiecki asserted that the policy of defending employment had produced results that stood in stark contrast to a past period described as a nightmare for the country. He referenced European Union data indicating record low unemployment and high employment levels in Poland, supported by millions of new jobs. He pointed to counties where unemployment had previously exceeded 30 percent and youth unemployment above 35 percent, contrasting those figures with current improvements.

In his view, previous decisions regarding asset sales and resources taken from OFE did not contribute to reducing unemployment. He challenged critics to consider the historical outcomes and to recognize the improvements achieved under present policy. The Prime Minister stated that the nation should learn from the past with clarity about what did not work and focus on what is delivering progress now.

He expressed confidence that the recovery of public finances and investment in infrastructure would create better conditions for a stronger middle class. He stated that this approach has guided government policy for eight years and would continue to guide future actions should voters endorse it in elections.
