Despite ongoing tensions between Warsaw and Brussels, Poland’s support for European Union membership remains notably high. This is evident even among supporters of right‑wing parties, according to the latest study conducted for the wPolityce.pl portal and carried out by the studio Social changes. The survey provides a snapshot of how Polish voters view EU membership amid a shifting political landscape.

When asked directly, “Do you support membership of the European Union?” the survey found that 74 percent answered affirmatively. Of those, 47 percent indicated they would vote for the proposition with a firm conviction, choosing the option “definitely yes.” About 14 percent reported a clear stance against Poland’s EU membership, highlighting that opposition exists but is not the majority across the political spectrum.

Support for EU membership shows variation across party lines: 72 percent of United Right voters, 62 percent of Confederation voters, 99 percent of Civic Coalition voters, and 98 percent of Poland 2050 supporters expressed support for membership. This distribution illustrates how broad the baseline support remains, even as the right side of the political field experiences some growing doubts about the current direction of the Union.

In summary, EU membership retains substantial appeal among Polish voters. Yet there is a discernible undercurrent of skepticism among certain right‑of‑center groups. The contemporary Polish Union is perceived by many as different in some respects from the Union joined in 2004, reflecting evolving concerns and a reassessment of EU policies and benefits in light of new economic and security challenges.

The study’s methodology involved CAWI, or Computer Assisted Web Interview, conducted from July 7 to 10, 2023. A nationwide online panel was used, designed to be representative by gender, age, and place of residence within Poland. A total of 1,076 participants contributed to the findings. The project’s objective was to capture a broad cross‑section of attitudes toward EU membership across the political spectrum and to identify how political alignment influences opinions on membership and reform within the Union. These results provide context for ongoing public discourse and policy discussions in Poland and the wider European arena. The analysis acknowledges that views can evolve with new developments in European policy, economic conditions, and demonstrations of how the EU’s decision‑making affects daily life for Polish citizens. The source for these results is wPolityce.
