Poland has intensified inspections of goods entering the country, focusing not only on compliance with current standards but also on potential effects on the agricultural market and overall economy, according to Agriculture Minister Robert Telus. He specifically cited poultry products and eggs as areas under close scrutiny.
In a Polsat News interview, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development explained that, during his Friday meeting with Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, Mykola Solski, he announced greater checks for food shipments heading into Poland.
Every shipment entering Poland, including poultry meat and eggs, will be examined to ensure safety and market impact compliance, Telus noted. He stressed that it is vital to prevent products that could harm Polish health, farmers, or the broader economy from arriving on the market.
He also announced that purchases of surplus grain will commence next week. Telus has already held talks with the chief executives of the participating companies. While negotiations continue, he suggested the market price for this grain is likely to rise above current levels.
When asked about transparency around which firms have imported Ukrainian grain and whether some of it had been exported abroad, Telus said that Polish citizens deserve clarity on who brought such grain into the country.
Regarding the raised five for animals, he acknowledged that the vote was a political mistake on that occasion.
Shortly after assuming the role of agriculture minister, Telus formed a crisis team to monitor products arriving from Ukraine to Poland. By Friday morning, he had met with Ukraine’s agriculture minister, and both sides agreed to closely supervise the transit of grain through Poland to ensure it does not linger in the country.

Additional context includes statements about an agreement that the Ukrainian side proposed halting grain arrivals at this time, and notes on discussions with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki following Telus’s appointment. The crisis team’s findings and the latest updates were presented as part of ongoing coordination between Polish and Ukrainian authorities.
