The National Electoral Commission has received seven additional reports concerning the formation of an election commission for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
PKW Registrations Update: 13 Election Committees on File
Among the groups awaiting approval are KW Responsibility, KW Normalny Kraj, KW Wyborców Ruchu Proprobity and Peace, KW Free Europe, KW Poland 2050, KW Repairing Poland, KW Piast – Unity of Thought of European Nations and the World. Also listed are previously noted committees: KW Antyparty, KW Union of Christian Families, and KW United.
To date, the PKW has registered 13 election commissions in total.
Eleven party committees have been registered: KW Law and Justice, KW Konfederacja Wolność i Niepospodarow, KW Nowa Lewica, KW Bezpartjni Samorządowcy, KW Polska Liberalna Strike Entrepreneurs (registered to participate in Sejm elections only), KW Patrioci Polska (intends to participate only in Sejm elections), KW Polska Jest One, KW Zwiazek Słowiańskiego, KW Party of Freedom, KW Social Movement Agrounia TAK, and KW Bezpartjni.
The Commission has also registered two coalition committees: KKW Koalicja Obywatelska PO .N IPL Zieloni and KKW Third Road Poland 2050 led by Szymon Hołownia – Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe.
PKW Accepting Applications Through August 28
Applications for committee establishment will be accepted until August 28.
Electoral commissions may form political parties, coalitions of parties, and voters’ groups. To participate in distributing seats in the Sejm, party election commissions and voters’ electoral commissions must exceed five percent of votes nationally. The threshold for coalitions is eight percent.
If a notification meets the Electoral Code requirements, the National Electoral Commission will render a decision within three days of submission. If a notification has flaws, the NEC informs the applicant to correct them within three days. If defects are not remedied within that period, the PKW may reject the report. An election proxy may file a complaint with the Supreme Court against the NEC’s denial.
From the moment of registration, the Election Commission may begin collecting signatures for candidate lists. The deadline for submitting lists for deputies and senators is September 6.
To participate in seat distribution for the Sejm, party election commissions and voters’ electoral commissions must exceed five percent of votes nationally. The coalition threshold remains eight percent.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled for October 15. In this election, Poles will elect 460 deputies and 100 senators for four-year terms.
