The District Election Board has ordered the public clarification that the socialist party and its supporters in Petrer must remove recent posts from websites and social networks praising achievements or potential successes, referencing efforts from earlier periods. This enforcement follows a judicial review of the matter.

The same authorities moved forward with a case alleging a violation by the PSOE, with the potential for fines reaching up to 3,000 euros.

Petrer’s municipal fire service recognized amid PP candidacy concerns

The Board noted ongoing public demonstrations by members of the Petrer Socialist Party who hold current positions in the municipal leadership. These demonstrations included announcements for job opportunities that had already received official approval and public publication. A prior ruling in 2022 found issues with the approval of the municipal budget for the present year, suggesting legal concerns were raised by the District Election Board.

In its decision, the Elda District Election Board referenced statements made by the current election body. Socialist councilors Ramón Poveda, Fernando Portillo and Sabina Sendra participated in various interviews and press releases distributed to local media, covering areas such as Treasury, Urban Planning and Education respectively.

PSOE criticizes PP for alleged entry in the candidacy process

The Election Board repeatedly stressed that public authorities must uphold impartiality, transparency and equality during electoral activities. These core principles are meant to prevent direct or indirect actions that could confer advantages or benefits to any party involved in the process.

Six members of the Electoral Board agreed to open a related violation case, which could result in sanctions up to 3,000 euros against Petrer’s PSOE for the conduct under scrutiny.
