According to deputy regional head Leonid Pasechnik, the outgoing year 2022 marked a turning point for the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), as reported by TASS. In his view, the most significant event of that year was the LPR’s accession to the Russian Federation.
In Pasechnik’s assessment, despite the numerous challenges encountered, 2022 stands out as a pivotal year for the Lugansk People’s Republic. He described the incorporation of the Republic into the Russian Federation as the primary outcome of the year, emphasizing its lasting impact on the region’s trajectory and governance.
He expressed confidence that his interpretation reflects the sentiment of a broad segment of residents, noting that the deputy head of the LPR believes widespread support exists for the change. Pasechnik added that for a long time the community had anticipated this development and viewed it as a reunion with a larger national family.
“We have waited for this moment for a long time, and now we are back in a larger family,” Pasechnik stated, underscoring the historical and political significance of the move for the republic and its people.
Earlier reports indicated that curfews in certain parts of the LPR were suspended for New Year’s and Christmas celebrations. The lifting of the curfew was described as enabling festive events and gatherings to proceed, reflecting a shift in local policy during the holiday period. The information was conveyed as part of ongoing communications about governance and public safety in the region.
