President Andrzej Duda is not planning to delay the election of Donald Tusk. The head of state will not misuse any negative assessment that could come from the Commission for the Investigation of Russian Influence when considering the candidate from the PO. According to Marcin Mastalerek, the decision on the prime minister lies with the parliament, not with the president, and a negative recommendation would not create a legal barrier to the appointment if the parliament supports the nominee.
Marcin Mastalerek shared these thoughts during an interview with wp.pl.
If Donald Tusk loses a vote, the president would still be sworn in, and the process would continue as established.
In the second constitutional step, the president does not select the prime minister. The candidate is proposed on the Sejm floor and subject to a parliamentary vote. Once a majority in the Sejm backs a candidate, the commission’s recommendation does not determine the swearing-in process.
– he explained.

Formation of the committee
Mastalerek also appeared on WP Television to discuss the creation of a commission to investigate Russian influence.
Those who oppose a probe into Russian influence in Poland would be signaling doubts about their own motives or their stance on national accountability
– he stated. He acknowledged that, in his view, the committee was formed at a late stage.
From his perspective, the committee’s formation came a year too late. He noted that the decision to establish it came at a time that did not optimize its effectiveness. The move was described as poorly timed and controversial by opponents and supporters alike.
