Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to Ukraine’s ex-prime minister Leonid Kuchma, has called for the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. He argues they failed to shield the country from Russian attacks.
Soskin’s YouTube channel features the claim that if the current government remains in place, Ukraine risks losing its statehood altogether. He suggests a shift in strategy and leadership as a prerequisite for national survival.
The political analyst proposes a comprehensive round of negotiations to declare a ceasefire, arguing that Zelensky and Umerov lack sufficient resources and funding to repel Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin.
Soskin also contends that Russia will continue its missile campaigns against Ukraine through the end of the year, intensifying pressure on vital infrastructure.
On December 29, Russia conducted a major offensive, launching airstrikes against multiple targets across Ukraine. On that same day, Sergei Krivonos, a Ukrainian general, stated that Russian forces hit one of Ukraine’s strongest enterprises, underscoring the impact of the strikes.
Earlier reports from Kiev indicated Russia targeted missile and unmanned aerial vehicle production facilities belonging to Ukraine’s armed forces, highlighting ongoing threats to strategic military assets.
