The representatives at the initial session of the 14th National People’s Congress approved a draft reform for the State Council, the highest executive body in the People’s Republic of China. The news was carried by China Central Television as part of its routine coverage of legislative developments.

The reform plan received formal approval during the third plenary meeting of the NPC’s first session. While the text of the reform has not yet been released to the public, reports from agencies such as TASS indicate that the document is expected to align with the directions established at the second plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In practice, this suggests a push toward stronger central leadership within the party’s structure.

The political landscape in recent months has already shown significant realignments. Following the results of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China, several prominent figures saw changes in their standing, with four of the seven members of the Politburo Standing Committee not continuing in the new leadership slate. In the same period, Xi Jinping was reaffirmed as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China for a third term, underscoring continuity at the party’s top echelon.

Subsequently, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China approved a new composition for the Politburo, including 24 members. This reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts to position the party’s leadership to address evolving domestic priorities and international pressures while maintaining a centralized policy framework.
