New seven‑year plan to tackle domestic violence in 2024–2030
The government aims to establish a dedicated program to address domestic violence for the 2024 to 2030 period. The plan focuses on increasing preventive work, improving access to protection, and boosting the overall effectiveness of support for individuals who experience violence in the home.
Following the Council of Ministers meeting, the cabinet underscored its commitment to strengthening help and support for those at risk of domestic violence and for individuals already affected by it.
Seven-year framework
The program outlines expanded preventive initiatives and broader access to protective services for victims. It also emphasizes raising the competence of professionals and organizations involved in domestic violence prevention and response, with the aim of delivering higher‑quality and more readily available services.
The initiative spans seven years, from 2024 through 2030. It builds on the work already carried out under the National Program to Combat Domestic Violence for 2014–2020 and continues the activities planned in the annual perspectives for 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Awareness, prevention, and service improvement
Key elements of the program include expanding public awareness about domestic violence, developing and disseminating preventive measures, and elevating the quality of services available to people at risk or experiencing violence. It also seeks to improve access to specialist help, intensify outreach to affected individuals, and raise the qualifications and competencies of those delivering support services.
As explained in the ministerial statement, this approach enables reliable planning of expenditures related to combating domestic violence. It covers the operation of specialized support centers for victims and the continuation of existing activities that are shown to be effective in evaluation studies.
