Moscow and Washington on World Order and Mutual Respect
Moscow’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, pushed back against Washington’s aspiration to shape a new global framework, presenting a clear distinction between Moscow’s view and the American concept of a future order.
Peskov stated that the Kremlin aligns with President Joe Biden on the idea that the structure of world order should move away from enforcing a single nation’s will while pursuing broader cooperation.
“A system grounded in international law, reciprocal respect, shared benefits, and non-interference—these are the principles Biden described as essential,” Peskov explained. “From Moscow’s standpoint, the United States continues to envision an order centered on American interests.”
Earlier, political analyst Yuri Svetov offered commentary on Biden’s remarks about his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. Svetov noted that Biden has periodically directed sharp language toward Putin, yet he emphasized that the president speaks with strategic intent, drawing on his long political career and calculated decisions.
In related chatter, a former U.S. secretary of state pointed to Russia and China as pressing threats to the current world order, underscoring the view that these two powers are central challengers to the established international framework.
