The ministry stressed that its diplomatic mission is actively cooperating with local authorities and closely monitoring developments, providing the necessary assistance within its powers. The description of the engagement was included in the ministry’s public statement.
It is noted that Zvi Kogan served as an assistant to the chief rabbi of the United Arab Emirates and represented the Chabad movement, which maintains a presence in several communities in the region.
Several days later reports emerged that the body of the missing Israeli rabbi had been found in the United Arab Emirates. Media accounts indicated that Kogan’s car showed signs of a struggle and was located a considerable distance from Abu Dhabi. Some accounts attributed responsibility to Iran, with Uzbek nationals named as the apparent direct perpetrators who reportedly fled toward Turkey.
Earlier, the office of the Israeli prime minister indicated that Kogan had disappeared and had stopped communicating in the days leading up to the discovery.
