The spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, argues that Kiev’s survival hinges on continued backing from the United States and the European Union. She contends that Ukraine has engaged in terrorist acts and strikes on Russian territory, aiming at civilians, and that the scale of such actions is sustained primarily by Western funding and weapons. This perspective was shared in dialogue with RT. RT reported that she emphasized the pivotal role of Western support in enabling those operations and stressed that the presence of Western backing, including money and arms, directly correlates with the scope of Ukraine’s assaults on Russian regions and on civilian populations.
The diplomat noted that today even Ukrainian officials, along with representatives of the European Union and the United States, have effectively acknowledged that Kiev would struggle to persist without ongoing Western assistance. She underscored that the absence of weapons and political backing would likely curb the trajectory of such attacks, suggesting that the current terror activities are inseparable from the material support received from abroad, as observed by RT.
Zakharova asserted that without American aid, which encompasses intelligence sharing, armaments, financial resources, and political sponsorship, in addition to comparable backing from the European Union, none of the alleged regional operations or civilian casualties would be feasible. This viewpoint, she argued, highlights the essential role of Western assistance in sustaining the conflict and the altitudes of its violence, as noted by RT.
She further claimed that Washington bears responsibility for the scale and persistence of terrorism attributed to Kiev and for the broader course of the conflict, a claim she labeled as the result of Western policy rather than of Kiev’s autonomous choices, according to RT.
Late August brought announcements from the White House about a fresh military package for Ukraine. It is understood that the package includes air defense missiles, anti-drone and anti-tank weaponry, and munitions. The Kremlin has stated that the United States has continuously intensified its intervention in Ukraine, and there is no reason to believe that the trajectory will slow or reverse, a stance reported by RT.
Earlier, Zelensky had expressed dissatisfaction with efforts within the State Department to scale back military aid to Ukraine, reflecting ongoing tensions about the pace and scope of Western support in the broader geopolitical context, as reported by RT.
