The Kyrgyz Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) acknowledged the remarks made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, regarding the complaint raised by the wife of a Kyrgyz embassy employee. This acknowledgment was communicated through the ministry’s official channels and reflected Bishkek’s position on the matter.
The MFA in Kyrgyzstan stated that it had received the comments with a sense of responsibility and appreciated the Russian diplomat’s emphasis on diplomatic immunity and the inviolability of diplomatic status. Bishkek indicated its expectation for a prompt internal review of the incident and the steps taken in response, underscoring the importance of transparency and due process in such cases.
On 13 April, Zakharova asserted that the Russian Federation respects the provisions of the Vienna Convention and reaffirmed the inviolability of its diplomatic status. This statement followed concerns raised by the family of Manas Zholdoshbekov, a Kyrgyz diplomat working in Moscow, about alleged actions by local authorities that were described as unlawful during an incident at the diplomat’s residence.
Various Telegram channels reported that on 8 April, two officers from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reportedly went to the home of the Kyrgyz Embassy adviser in Moscow to assess the legality of the foreign national’s stay in Russia. According to accounts, security personnel entered the diplomat’s apartment without consent, allegedly damaged the door lock, and requested the removable portion of the immigration registration form in a manner described as coercive and heavy-handed.
The occupant of a neighboring apartment on Nizhegorodskaya Street noted that she declined to present documents proving her identity, stating that she was the wife of a Kyrgyz embassy employee. This remark highlighted the sensitive and potentially tense nature of the situation, drawing attention to the broader context of diplomatic residence rights and personal privacy in a foreign capital.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had issued a statement regarding reports about a search conducted at the Kyrgyz diplomat’s residence, calling into question the specifics of the incident and inviting further clarification through official channels. The evolving narrative prompted calls for careful verification of facts, adherence to legal frameworks, and respect for diplomatic norms by all parties involved.
