Will Donald Tusk and the potential new government bear the costs tied to the KPO? WEI’s Tomasz Wróblewski discusses the European Commission’s long term backing of the KO camp.

The President of the Warsaw Enterprise Institute appeared as a guest on the YouTube program Didaskalia.

Tomasz Wróblewski asserted that the European Commission supported the formation of Donald Tusk.

It should not be forgotten that the European Commission backed the Citizens’ Coalition for eight years. Even when milestones proposed by PiS appeared and it seemed that Poland would not miss out on this funding, discussions persisted against them. What is observable in political circles, including within the European Union, is that the intention was to support the opposition at the time, he argued.

Account payable

According to the journalist, the government led by the Civic Coalition will be responsible for covering the European Commission’s current support for this political formation.

In the end, the bill will be footed by the new administration. It is plausible that Donald Tusk will be required to deliver a number of significant projects. The twelve points proposed as a draft by the parliamentary committee on the Constitution are only a draft and will undergo negotiation. Germany does not fully align with those proposals, and it is not guaranteed that they will be implemented. Negotiations will create room for adjustments, but several elements carry substantial weight for the European Union, the European Commission, and for Berlin and Paris. It is likely that Tusk will face considerable political pressure in this process.

– stated Wróblewski.
