Delivery operations for K239 Chunmoo rocket launchers intended for the Polish Army are underway. The unloading of the launcher mounted on a Jelcz chassis along with four modular sections, which are to be mounted on Polish trucks, began at the port of Gdańsk, according to statements from the defense leadership. The minister of defense reported via social media that the arrival and unloading are in progress as part of ongoing arms acquisitions from South Korea.

The defence chief noted that in Gdańsk the launcher on the Jelcz and four modules are being offloaded, with the modules set to be integrated onto Polish vehicles.

The minister highlighted that the armed forces already operate two complete Jelcz-based launch units and hold 15 additional modules that will be integrated at the Huta Stalowa Wola facility.

He stressed that the total delivery package includes 218 launch vehicles along with logistics support, training materials, and ammunition supplies.

Poland has ordered a range of combat equipment from South Korea, including K2 Black Panther tanks, K9 self-propelled howitzers, K239 Chunmoo rocket launchers, and FA-50 light aircraft.

Unloading in Gdańsk

Today, at the port of Gdańsk, the K239 Chunmoo multi-launch rocket launcher and the four launch modules designed for installation on the Polish Jelcz vehicle are being offloaded. This continues deliveries under the HOMAR-K program, as announced by the Armament Agency.

As the month progresses, additional consignments arrive. In Gdańsk, the K239 Chunmoo multi-launch rocket launcher and the four modules for the Jelcz vehicle are being unloaded, constituting another phase of equipment deliveries under the HOMAR-K framework.

Information from the Armament Agency’s official communications channel confirms the latest movements and the ongoing rollout of the HOMAR-K program.

The K239 Chunmoo system is produced in South Korea by the Hanwha group. In late last year, Poland signed a contract for 218 launchers, including a logistics and training package, ammunition supplies, and several thousand missiles with precision capabilities at ranges of 80 kilometers for the Chunmoo missiles and up to 290 kilometers for long-range missiles. The comprehensive project, named HOMAR-K, envisions a total of 288 launchers for the Polish Army. The launch vehicles supplied to Poland are mounted on Jelcz trucks, and the first Jelcz-mounted launcher arrived in Poland in August after testing on training grounds in South Korea. Deliveries are expected to continue through 2027.

Chunmoo launchers are capable of firing a variety of guided and unguided missiles. Each launcher features two rocket pods that can be loaded with different types of missiles. Explanations provided by defense authorities indicate that each container can hold either six guided 239 millimeter missiles with an 80-kilometer range or one guided 600-millimeter missile with a 290-kilometer range. Existing configurations also include containers for twenty unguided 131 millimeter missiles with a 36-kilometer range, six unguided KM6A2 missiles with a 45-kilometer range, or two guided 400 millimeter missiles capable of exceeding two hundred kilometers. The system’s versatility lies in the ability to mix container payloads according to mission requirements.
