The head of the Ministry of Justice, the Attorney General, will set up a dedicated Justice Fund investigation team at the National Public Prosecutor’s Office, as announced by the ministry. The objective is to assess how the Fund’s resources have been managed and spent, including the procurement activities tied to the Pegasus system.
The ministry stated that the team will be composed of prosecutors who will review notifications and procedures received by the prosecutor’s office in recent years related to this matter.
The research team will examine whether the Justice Fund has been properly managed and whether expenditures aligned with applicable laws and the original objectives of the Fund.
– as noted in the ministry’s announcement.
Initially, the ministry explained, the team will analyze the notifications about the Justice Fund received by individual prosecutor’s offices across the country in recent years.
This applies to all reports, whether submitted by private individuals or state institutions, according to the ministry.
The investigation will also review issues connected to the preparatory procedures concerning the Ex Bono foundation, which includes a notification to the Supreme Audit Office and transmission to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole.
– the ministry noted.
Purchase of Pegasus
A key focus for the team will be the procurement of the Pegasus system financed by the Justice Fund.
