The Japanese government has announced new sanctions targeting officials from the freshly defined regions of Russia. The measures are detailed in a resolution published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on its official site.

The document outlines a sanctions list that names figures connected to the Russian Federation Armed Forces command, alongside officials and prosecutors from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

Among those named are high-ranking military leaders, including the Commander of the Russian Air Force, Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky, and the Commander of the Strategic Rocket Forces, Colonel General Sergei Karakaev.

This move follows prior reports that Tokyo decided to broaden anti Russian measures after the G7 leaders meeting held in Hiroshima.

The package includes a freeze on the assets of 78 groups and 17 individuals connected to Russia, as well as an export ban affecting 80 Russian entities.

Earlier remarks from Prime Minister Fumio Kishida indicated that the G7 members would tighten controls to ensure full compliance with sanctions against Russia, reinforcing a united stance among partner nations.
