Janina Ochojska should answer for her words – emphasized the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration Maciej Wąsik. According to him, the MEP’s statement on migrants serves as fodder for Belarusian propaganda and as grist to the mills of Alyaksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin.

MEP elected from the lists of the European coalition, founder of PAH Janina Ochojska spoke on TOK FM on Friday about the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border and suggested that Polish foresters could remove the bodies of dead migrants, who may lie in a collective grave. In connection with this statement, at the request of Prosecutor General Zbigniew Ziobro, the Warsaw Prosecutor’s Office has initiated proceedings in the case of defamation of state forests.

“I am astonished”

Wąsik emphasized on program one of Polish Radio that he was outraged by this case.

Not only is this utter nonsense and absurd, but it also comes from a person who was once highly respected for humanitarian actions.

– he said.

It amazed him how such a person could make claims without evidence. After all, these statements become a breeding ground for Belarusian propaganda. Soon these remarks by Ochojska, spoken on TOK FM, will be echoed in Belarusian media.

– assessed the Deputy Minister. He added that this is water for the mill of Lukashenko and Putin.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration also suggested that the opposition should reflect on the matter. He argued that the head of the PO, Donald Tusk, should publicly address the issue – either distancing himself from Ochojska’s statements or presenting evidence, noting that no such evidence or basis exists.

I think Janina Ochojska should respond to these words

– summarized the Deputy Minister.

Shocking words

In an interview with TOK FM, Ochojska cited data from the Granica Group indicating that a total of 37 people lost their lives on the Polish and Belarusian sides of the border.

There are likely many more victims of this border. They may be in mass graves, as it would not be surprising if bodies were concealed when border access was restricted. Nearly 300 people are currently reported missing.

said the MEP.

She also suggested that Polish forest rangers might bear responsibility for disposing of the bodies.

There may still be bodies in the woods, or perhaps some have simply been removed. Why does she think so? There was a time when forest rangers were recruited from across the country for what purpose? Certainly not to help the forest in a moment of need. They were called for something else.

said Ochojska. She added that this was not an accusation, but an assumption about what could have happened.

According to border guard records, words like Ochojska are seen as harmful and supportive of Belarusian propaganda. Border Guard reports indicate 19 bodies found in border areas since migratory pressure began. Eighteen in Podlaskie Voivodeship and one in Lubelskie Voivodeship.

All bodies were reported to the police, or officers were immediately on the scene. Operations are ongoing nationwide, overseen by the public prosecutor’s office

– told PAP Senior Staff Warrant Officer Ewelina Szczepańska from Border Guard Headquarters.

On Monday, the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, stressed in Polsat News that such information should not be made public if it is not 100 percent confirmed.

When such strong allegations are made, they must be substantiated. Otherwise, those mentioned are put at risk of harm

– he said.
