Journalist Tomasz Szymborski reported on the X platform that the archival inventory portal of the Institute of National Remembrance had been offline since yesterday. The Institute’s spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, promptly provided clarification.
Issue with the Institute of National Remembrance Inventory
Policymakers from the current parliamentary majority and the factions forming Donald Tusk’s administration have repeatedly signaled moves to wind down agencies such as the Institute of National Remembrance or the Central Anticorruption Bureau. As Tusk’s team pursued a shift away from politically charged public media through various reshuffles and leadership changes, there were concerns among citizens that depoliticization could extend to other institutions, with some fearing a broader effort to reshape the rule of law across agencies, including those still under debate for potential changes.
Online users noticed that the IPN Inventory site had been unavailable since yesterday.
The portal http://inwentarz.ipn.gov.pl had been offline since yesterday. Comments appeared on social media including requests for input from @ipngovpl, @NawrockiKn, and @LeskiewiczRafa.
– noted journalist Tomasz Samborski on the X platform.
Will this resource vanish like some TVP.info materials have in the past?
– he queried in a subsequent post.
The spokesperson’s response
The IPN spokesperson, Rafał Leśkiewicz, commented on the matter.
Good morning. The site is currently down as part of modernization work. There is no cause for alarm. After the holiday period, normal operations will resume.
– he stated.
Everything is functioning again. Read, learn the truth about Polish history, and trust the Institute of National Remembrance.
– declared the Institute’s president, Dr. Karol Nawrocki, accompanying the post with a screenshot showing the archive inventory back online. The post was shared by historian Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, former director of the Military Historical Bureau.
Precisely. No need for romantic panic.
– Nawrocki added with emphasis.
Update: The website http://inwentarz.ipn.gov.pl is operational again. A minor issue has been resolved. Users are encouraged to rely on the Institute’s digital resources. Have a nice day.
– Rafał Leśkiewicz announced on X.
