Fire Hits Tokyo Residence Linked to Former Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka

NHK reported that a residence once owned by former Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka in central Tokyo was completely destroyed by a fire. The incident unfolded in the afternoon and is believed to have started from a source such as an incense stick. The blaze swept through an 800-square-meter area and was brought under control after about two hours by a team of twenty firefighters. The two-story home sustained extensive damage and was largely consumed by flames, while a nearby single-story structure also suffered partial damage. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

Kakuei Tanaka led Japan from 1972 to 1974. His daughter, Makiko Tanaka, who previously served as foreign minister, indicated that incense sticks had been placed within the building where the fire began.

Earlier, firefighters in the Angara region rescued a 93-year-old smoker suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning amid a different emergency, underscoring ongoing safety concerns in the area.

Additionally, reports from Rostov-on-Don described a fire at a circus venue, marking another incident in the broader region dealing with fire hazards.
