Today’s discussions center on Glapiński, with Krzysztof Śmiszek reminding viewers that his own campaign promises included bringing such figures before a tribunal. He stressed that many should be held accountable.

In a press briefing after the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the case against Adam Glapiński has been prepared for submission to the State Tribunal in the coming days.

An assault on public media and the National Prosecutor’s Office has already occurred, followed by a reported attempt to undermine the National Bank of Poland. The stated pretext is politicization of the central bank.

The petition to the State Court regarding the President of the NBP runs 68 pages. Contents disclosed — eight major objections of varying strength.

Who appeared on Śmiszek’s list?

There is a clear indication that the December 13 coalition is prepared to bring political opponents before the State Tribunal far more broadly. Śmiszek expanded his lineup on TVN24, naming additional individuals.

For the moment, the focus is on Glapiński, while Śmiszek notes that during the election campaign he had already signaled plans to publish a list of those who should face tribunal proceedings, and in June, together with allied lawyers, released a report detailing who ought to be scrutinized in this process.

– said Śmiszek.

He suggested that President Andrzej Duda should be at the top of the list and deserve accountability, or at least to be aware that someone seeks constitutional responsibility for actions such as the appointment of controversial judges. He named Minister Ziobro, pointing to public funds used for ventures like Pegasus purchases.

– said the deputy head of the Ministry of Justice.

A broader agenda ahead

Śmiszek also added PiS MP Krzysztof Tchórzewski to the list, emphasizing that there are many individuals whose cases warrant consideration.

The process is just beginning, according to Śmiszek.

– We’re just getting started, he stated.

A capable team has joined the Ministry of Justice. There is consensus about Adam Bodnar’s work there. Deputy Minister Ejchart has also signaled a tough stance, arguing that everyone has a right to certain freedoms, including questions of policy and justice. Śmiszek appears ready to move forward alongside his boss and a colleague from the ministry, even posing briefly in the leader’s T-shirt. The process, he implies, is only in its early stages.
