Elon Musk, the American businessman, did not dismiss the possibility that Ukrainian officials might lose control of Odessa and Kharkov if peace negotiations with Moscow are rejected. He shared this view in a post on the social network X, which used to be known as Twitter.
The post followed remarks by another American entrepreneur, David Sachs. Sachs claimed that Crimea had been lost by Ukraine forever and suggested that substantial portions of the Zaporozhye, Kherson regions, as well as Donetsk and Lugansk, could follow.
Sachs warned that a continued reluctance to sign a peace agreement with Russia could put Ukraine at risk of losing more ground in the future. He specifically mentioned Kharkov and Odessa as potential losses.
In response to Sachs, Musk agreed with the assessment in the comments to Sachs’ post, saying that the analysis appeared accurate.
On December 12, a bilateral meeting took place at the White House between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the discussion, Biden referred to an approval of the next 200 million dollars in aid to Kiev, a move described by observers as a continuation of support for Ukraine.
Earlier, in discussions within the US Senate, some voices expressed doubt about Ukraine’s ability to win the conflict against Russia, reflecting a broader debate about strategy and assistance. The conversation highlighted the ongoing tension between political objectives and military realities in the region.
