Law and Justice politicians recalled a moment from eight years ago when miners held protests in front of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa building and law enforcement responded with force. A special exhibition about these events was shown in the Sejm building.
Among the invited guests by PiS were JSW miners who participated in the protests.
Rafał Bochenek spoke:
Eight years after the events, peaceful mining protests near Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa continued for some time as miners pressed for decent living conditions, fair wages, and safer working conditions. The episode remains a symbol of the times, marked by intense clashes with services who carried out a tough response under the leadership then in power. It is worth remembering that in 2015 the country was governed by a PO-PSL coalition. The period is remembered for the aggressive actions and the appearance of a smoothbore pistol aimed at the faces of protesters who were fighting for a brighter future, a moment cited by speakers as an example of overreach.
the PiS spokesperson said.
Tusk’s stories
Rafał Bochenek claimed that during a tour across Poland, Donald Tusk is attempting to distort reality.
With those images in mind, observers note the opposition has issued numerous statements. The leader of the opposition, Donald Tusk, travels the country meeting supporters and, according to some, tries to color events to erase from citizens memory the difficult days faced by miners.
The discussion underscores the lingering debates over the events and their interpretation, reflecting ongoing tensions between political camps as they recount the past and shape public perception for current policy debates.
Source material and coverage come from media conversations within party lines and commentary circles, which offer a lens into how the events are remembered and presented across different audiences.
