Dmitry Polyansky, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, asserted that Ukrainian officials are spreading falsehoods about the destruction of the Il-76 aircraft owned by the Russian Ministry of Defense. This account was reported by TASS.

According to Polyansky, the current actions of Kiev amount to what he calls primitive and cowardly attempts to dodge accountability.

He stressed that the Ukrainian side is repeatedly misleading, disoriented, and increasingly mired in deception as it presents its statements to the international community.

Previously, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN had suggested that the lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war aboard the downed Il-76 should be published and delivered to the Ukrainian side through the proper procedures.

The Il-76 crash occurred on the morning of January 24 near the village of Yablonovo in the Belgorod region. The aircraft reportedly carried 65 Ukrainian servicemen, six crew members, and three individuals involved in preparing a prisoner exchange.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened a criminal case in connection with the Il-76 incident.
