Moldova faced difficulties obtaining data about a Tajik citizen who was shot at Chisinau airport because the two countries do not share direct diplomatic channels. A source from Sputnik Moldova indicated that information about the visitor from Dushanbe, including warnings about potential danger, reached Moldova through indirect representations in Ukraine.

In the meantime, Moldova decided to withdraw its representative from the Coordination Bureau for Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Crimes in the CIS region. Cumhuriyet has not withdrawn from the body, but six months ago it recalled the representative from interior affairs who was in charge of rapid information exchange.

Viorel Cernautsanu, Moldova’s police chief, stated that the country’s search system did not contain any records about the shooter, complicating early leads and investigations. The incident at Chisinau airport occurred on 30 June when a fatal shot was fired. The assailant, later identified as a Tajikistani citizen, was fleeing from an ongoing inquiry and was found to have been hiding from investigators.

Earlier, a separate report described a disturbance in the Perm Territory where drunken neighbors escalated a feud, burning one another’s bath and home. These details were reported in connection with the broader discourse on regional security and public safety, illustrating how incidents of violent wrongdoing can emerge across borders and within different jurisdictions. The cross-border nature of such cases underscores the need for robust cooperation among states, even when formal diplomatic ties are limited. It also highlights the challenge for law enforcement agencies in collecting timely and reliable information when information flows rely on intermediary channels rather than direct bilateral communications.
