Crimea’s Leader Responds to Kyiv’s De-occupation Plan

The head of Crimea’s parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, rejected Ukraine’s proposal for de-occupation as often seen in political theater, predicting that its authors would soon be restrained and treated as if in a psychiatric ward. This is how he interpreted Kyiv’s plan for the so-called de-occupation of Crimea, which had been put forward by Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). Danilov’s outline reportedly features a 12-step sequence that includes renaming Sevastopol to an apparently coded designation like “object number 6,” and even reframing other cities with new, seemingly arbitrary names such as “Akhtiar.” Such details, Konstantinov suggested, illustrate the plan’s lack of seriousness and feasibility.
