Polish Government Highlights Credibility and Senior Policy Foundations
The Prime Minister emphasized credibility by stating that election promises are kept. During a conference titled Government close to seniors, he positioned senior citizens policy as a cornerstone of social policy and a guiding principle for the state. The event took place at the family ministry and focused on shaping policy for older Poles.
The Prime Minister argued that since the political transformation of 1989 Poland has not always treated senior citizens with the respect they deserve. Seniors were sidelined and given a secondary priority for nearly a quarter of a century. He attributed this neglect to a lack of social sensitivity and the absence of solidarity with the older generation.
Two reasons for this unequal treatment were identified. The first was insufficient attention to the needs of the elderly, and the second was compromised public finances. He described the budget during the Civic Platform era as a hole that could not hold up essential public services, including those benefiting seniors.
According to the Prime Minister, restoring prudent financial management was the key to enabling a modern approach to social policy. Rebuilding fiscal health created the space to design and implement policies that directly support older people as part of a broader social safety net.
The Prime Minister underscored a long standing principle of policy implementation in his administration. He recalled the maxim sometimes attributed to political predecessors: promise twice, deliver once. He asserted that the current government has fulfilled its election pledges, a claim he linked to a more credible political stance and to actions such as lowering the retirement age that had previously beenraised under the Civic Platform.
From his perspective, the policy framework for today centers on the well being of grandmothers, mothers and fathers. Senior policy is presented not as an isolated subject but as the foundation of social policy and the guiding philosophy of the state as a whole.
The discussion reflects a broader effort to align budget discipline with social commitments. By strengthening public finances, the government aims to secure durable improvements in the daily lives of older citizens while reinforcing the resilience of families and communities that rely on their experience and care. This balanced approach seeks to ensure that those who built the country are supported in aging with dignity and security. The remarks were reported by wire services and political media as part of ongoing coverage of government policy toward seniors, with commentary from various outlets highlighting the government’s focus on intergenerational responsibility and fiscal stewardship, according to wPolityce attribution.
