Efforts to optimize resources aim to unlock new areas and services for residents across Costa Costa to Orihuela. This aligns with the strategic goals of a government program led by Carolina Gracia, the socialist candidate seeking reelection as mayor of Orihuela. The objective is to respond directly to the needs and requests voiced by the community.

Key initiatives include the relocation of the City Council offices to Playa Flamenca, right along the waterfront, and the development of a cultural and multi-use center. The center will house a study room, a children’s library, and a meeting room, among other facilities. This plan was discussed during a meeting with representatives from the Cabo Roig and Lomas Neighborhood Association, with participation from councilors María García and Tomás Moreno, as well as Unai Villanueva and Isidro Grao.

In addition, the proposal involves transferring all municipal services from the current town hall to the new site. A 4,700-square-foot Emergency Center on Avenida Miguel de Cervantes has the capacity to contain and even expand these services, creating a centralized hub for residents and reducing travel time for those needing municipal assistance.

The arrangement consolidates different administrative services in a single area, including the issuance of national identity documents through the National Police, while also simplifying parking for residents who arrive by car.

Gracia emphasized that this project would deliver a much-desired coastal cultural and multi-purpose facility, answering longstanding community demands and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents who live along the coast.

The mayor also shared plans to implement the Costa Orihuela Plan, a comprehensive program aimed at maintaining and upgrading infrastructure with a cross-project approach. The proposal includes a gradual annual budget increase of 10 percent to support job creation and service improvements.

Under the socialist candidacy, a rapid response plan would be funded by the City Council’s remaining treasury, allowing action to begin immediately. An emphasis on urban waste management and environmental stewardship includes expanding personnel by 40 percent by 2027 and transferring land to the Regional Waste Consortium for the creation of an eco-park. This initiative also envisions clean points for goods and waste warehouses and a broader improvements program for collection services.

Signage improvements across beaches will be prioritized as part of a tourism sustainability strategy. A two-million-euro subsidy from EU NextGeneration funds supports the transport network that links coastal points with beaches and includes services such as a health center to serve visitors and residents alike.

In total, a document outlining 35 offers has been presented. Gracia concluded that the administration is open to new mergers and welcomes the suggestions and ideas gathered from meetings and individual contributions.
