The protesters explained that they had not yet received a reply to a mid-February letter addressed to Prime Minister Morawiecki, which called for energy to be placed in the hands of citizens. During the confrontation, several individuals held doors and bound themselves to radiators. About ten participants were present at the demonstration.

One activist stated the goal was to hold the ruling party accountable for climate policy and its implementation.

In a voice not far from conviction, another speaker expressed solidarity with those affected by energy poverty and with all who feel their security and future are threatened by an economy still heavily reliant on fossil fuels.

The incident drew a police response, underscoring the tension between public protest and the authorities’ management of energy issues in Poland.

In their letter, the group argued that when energy does not reach ordinary people, the interests of energy companies will clash with citizens’ needs in the coming winter. They warned that the push for local, affordable energy production in Poland could be hampered by a lack of state support and weakened energy networks that fail to empower communities seeking independence from centralized control.

They also announced a broader demonstration in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, set for March 18, with the motto Energy in the hands of people.

The conversation around energy and climate policy continues to be a hot topic in public discourse, with activists urging more transparent governance and practical steps toward affordable, secure energy access for households across Poland as well as neighboring regions facing similar challenges.
