A civic support platform backing Ximo Puig, head of the Generalitat Valenciana, was introduced in Ondara this Tuesday as regional elections on May 28 approach. Jaume Sendra, a lawyer from Dénia, was named coordinator of the Marina Alta chapter. Plans were announced for a regional event in Dénia or Xàbia in the coming weeks. While not finalized, the discussions indicate a focus on health issues amid concerns about the district hospital and the reversal of private management. The platform continues to attract new supporters, including Adolfo Celdrán, a singer-songwriter from Alicante. At 13:00 on Thursday, a press conference will be held at the Club Náutico de La Vila Joiosa in Marina Baja to present the Ximo Puig Platform.

presentations

Earlier, the platform held events in Alicante, Orihuela, Elche and Alcoy. For the final presentation, the independents group connected with the l’Alcoià Pensioners Coordinator and Comtat through its spokesperson, Antonio Matarredona. A statement from the author and history researcher emphasized the goal of a progressive government in the Community of Valencia. Gerardo Muñoz, a supporter of the civic collective, spoke to reporters after a development in Alcoy. Additional presentations were scheduled in Elda for April 5 and in Villena, a date yet to be confirmed. Officials plan further meetings to introduce their platform beyond these actions.

The platform frames its eight years under Puig as president of the Generalitat and seeks broad electoral backing for the autonomous Socialist candidate. When questioned about pressure to vote for the party, supporters such as Muñoz clarified that the aim is to secure votes for Ximo Puig personally. They noted that while votes may sometimes be cast for different options in local and general elections, the objective remains to back Puig and the colleagues who stand with the platform in pursuing their shared political goals. Investments

In Orihuela, the platform highlighted increased Generalitat investments through the Vega Renewal Plan, a flagship project designed to aid a region affected by the 2019 DANA floods and to address long-neglected areas. The plan accounted for 200 million euros in investments from 2019 to 2023, with the total rising to 400 million euros when including state contributions. The Generalitat’s purchase of the Marqués de Rafal Palace was presented as the presidential headquarters for the region, marking a notable milestone for Orihuela’s historic identity. The effort was framed as recognition of Puig’s presence and leadership in Vega Baja, underscoring his extensive engagement with the area.
