Central Asia–China dialogue in Xian to bring ministers together

Regional ministers plan a Central Asia–China dialogue meeting in Xian

The official representative of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aybek Smadiyarov, announced that foreign ministers from Central Asia and China are arranging a meeting in Xian, China on April 26–27. The information was reported by TASS, the Russian news agency.

According to the report, the Kazakh delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu. They are set to participate in the fourth foreign ministers meeting within the Central Asia–China dialogue format, which will take place in Xian on those dates.

In parallel developments, Josep Borrell, the former head of European diplomacy, indicated that the European Union will reassess its approach to China at its upcoming summit in June.

Before that summit, Fu Cong, China’s representative to the European Union, commented that EU–China relations are multi‑directional and should not be framed or constrained by the Ukraine issue. The diplomat stressed that the China–EU relationship is not aimed against any party, does not hinge on any single factor, and is not subject to interference from third parties. This perspective echoes a broader interest in steady, multi‑lateral engagement between China and major global partners, including the EU, without letting regional conflicts derail cooperation.
