Javier Gutiérrez, Deputy Assistant for Infrastructure and Aid to Municipalities, together with Alejandro Morant, Assistant for Protection of Highways, Roads, Buildings and Facilities, conducted a formal visit to the municipality. In Segovia, they met with the Diputación president Miguel Ángel de Vicente, vice president Sara Dueñas, and MPs Basilio del Olmo and Ángel Jiménez.
During the gathering, which included technicians from the Segovian institution, a detailed briefing covered the progress in Assistance to Municipalities, Roads, and Infrastructure projects. The goal was to showcase the improvements in service delivery to residents of the province and to align on ongoing work that day.
Expressing satisfaction after the meeting, Javier Gutiérrez stated that shared synergies can inspire other administrations, such as the Segovia County Council, to adopt similar development plans. He emphasized the need for a flexible schedule, competitive tendering, and the implementation of framework agreements to sustain progress over longer timelines.

Alejandro Morant, head of the highways region, remarked that this exchange of information helps identify both the challenges and opportunities that Segovia faces. The dialogue broadens understanding of regional contexts and highlights projects that could be replicated in other areas. He added that the discussion also enriches the work of the Diputación de Segovia, with MPs acknowledging the practical approach demonstrated in the collaboration.
Regarding the Aid to Municipalities program, Gutiérrez explained the distinctive characteristics of Segovia, featuring a compact geography and many small towns that retain the original spirit of local councils. This structure supports initiatives to develop projects and assist management in municipalities with smaller populations.
Throughout the working session, topics included the digitization efforts within Diputación de Segovia. Participants explored how to implement similar systems in Diputación de Alicante, with the aim of making citizen services faster and more efficient. The digitized approach would enable residents to complete transactions such as requests for certificates or licenses, bringing the administration closer to the people it serves.
Another focal point was road maintenance. Both provinces are responsible for substantial networks, and the effort to maintain roughly the same magnitude of roads underscores the shared responsibility to ensure safe and reliable transportation corridors for communities. In Segovia, approximately 1,200 kilometers require ongoing attention, while Alicante’s network amounts to around 1,000 kilometers, reflecting parallel maintenance challenges and the value of shared knowledge in best practices.
