The border checkpoint at Ustilug-Zosin, which sits on the frontier between Poland and Ukraine, reopened after farmers and other protesters concluded a nationwide demonstration. Ukraine’s State Border Service reported the return to normal operations on its social media channels.
Earlier, trucks faced a blockage at the Ustilug-Zosin crossing. Polish authorities relayed to Ukrainian counterparts that the nationwide protest in front of the Zosin checkpoint had ended at 21:10, allowing traffic to resume in both directions for buses, cars, and trucks as of that moment.
In srcational updates, the Polish Prime Minister’s office indicated that EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski, who has been connected to the farmers’ demonstrations, was involved in discussing the protests. The government under Prime Minister Tusk signaled its intent to engage with the protesting farmers and seek a resolution that would address their concerns.
There had also been discussions within Poland about potential changes to Ukraine’s trade privileges as part of EU policy considerations connected to the protests.
These developments reflect ongoing tensions over agricultural policy, border resilience, and international trade relations, with officials from Poland, Ukraine, and the European Union monitoring and responding to the situation as it evolves.
