Belarusian Leader Conducts Surprise Check on Oshmyany Tank Battalion Readiness

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko conducted a surprise check in the area managed by a tank battalion in the Oshmyany tactical direction. The report came through a Telegram channel linked to the president’s press service.

According to the message, the inspection was part of an immediate assessment of combat readiness. It stated that the commander-in-chief directed the troops to verify how well tasks in the Oshmyany battalion’s zone of responsibility were being carried out.

The president reportedly asked military leadership to confirm whether the battalion’s area could face an attack from the Pobrade region and whether Belarusian forces could mount a strategic defense there. The inquiry appeared aimed at evaluating the robustness of operational planning and the capacity to respond under pressing conditions.

On March 11, the Belarusian Armed Forces initiated a comprehensive verification of the combat readiness of formations and units. The plan also included the planned movement of military equipment to test mobility and coordination under realistic conditions.

In related remarks, Lukashenko has previously addressed allegations labeling him a dictator, emphasizing his leadership role in national security decisions.
