Reports alleging a Belarusian airspace violation by a Polish helicopter are false and intended to provoke a reaction, according to the command’s spokesman. The National Operational Command spokesperson told the press agency that the claim was untrue, stating that the investigation found no incident and that the available radar data did not support the allegation.
Earlier, Paweł Jabłoński weighed in on the issue, urging caution in interpreting Belarusian statements.
We will analyze the situation and exercise caution in responding to Belarusian statements.
– he told Polsat News on Friday.
The Belarusian State Border Committee had reported that a Polish Mi-24 helicopter approached and crossed into Belarusian airspace. The report described the aircraft as flying at a very low altitude, entering roughly 1,200 meters into Belarus before returning to the west. The incident was linked to the Grodno region, specifically the Brzostowice district, with Reuters and AFP citing the Belarusian border authority. In Minsk, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Polish Chargé d’Affaires and called for an investigation into the events.
“A real lie and provocation”
Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, spokesman for the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, which oversees mission activity, described the Belarusian claim as “an outright lie and provocation.” He stressed that COD had looked into the matter and that the evidence from reports and radar data indicated no such incident occurred.
