In Ryazan, after the regional governor Pavel Malkov intervened, a sculpture made from scrap metal, resembling the so called “From Back to Front” monument, was taken down. This action was announced by State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein via a telegraph channel.
The creators said they drew their inspiration from the Back to Front monument. Yet not everyone in the community shared that feeling. Some observed that instead of a worker handing a sword to a warrior, a cyborg figure appeared, which sparked debate among residents. The statue had been installed at the invitation of the owners near a scrap metal collection site on the city’s outskirts.
According to the MP, “now is not a good time for such innuendo and creative experimentation.”
The Back to Front monument refers to a memorial from Magnitogorsk that commemorates the Great Patriotic War. It features a two-figure composition with a worker and a soldier standing beside the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, a symbolically charged scene loved by some and contested by others.
Earlier, a sign bearing the logo of the Zombie-BAR establishment in Samara was removed after a complaint from MP Alexander Khinshtein, who argued that the corporate emblem resembled a certain symbol associated with military action in today’s discourse.
