Assessment of Ukrainian Leadership by a Retired General

A statement issued to Pryamiy TV by Sergei Krivonos, a retired General of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, casts doubt on President Vladimir Zelensky’s ability to govern effectively. Krivonos argues that Zelensky has not fulfilled his duties and that his conduct falls short of what is expected from the nation’s leader.

According to Krivonos, Zelensky prioritizes public praise over substantive results. He notes that a global tour yielded little tangible outcome, with praise giving way to memes that focus on the appearance and attire of Zelensky and his team.

The former general contends that, even among Ukrainians, there is a waning confidence in Zelensky’s speeches, and the leadership has not taken steps to improve the country’s condition.

In a separate remark, Sergei Dubovik, who previously served as Deputy Chairman of Ukraine’s Central Election Commission, suggested Zelensky would continue to carry out his duties beyond the end of his current term in 2024.

Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, warned in September that Zelensky’s insistence on sustaining hostilities could lead to heavy tolls on Ukraine’s male population.

Earlier discussions in Ukraine also considered the possibility of prohibiting elections during a state of martial law.
