Armenian Prime Minister Addresses External Pressures and Domestic Stability
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that foreign actors are attempting to destabilize Armenia through a pattern he describes as a repeated scenario of hybrid aggression. According to Pashinyan, Armenia’s democracy is enduring sustained pressure. He argued that the core threat originates from external actors who, in cooperation with external backers, exploit moments of vulnerability created by insufficient support from allies. These moments, he said, are then used to weaken sovereignty by turning humanitarian concerns, the threat of conflict, or other external shocks into tools against the Armenian state.
In his remarks, Pashinyan highlighted the use of hybrid techniques aimed at stirring internal unrest within Armenia. He stated that such tactics have been employed repeatedly, noting a pattern that has appeared several times since 2020. The prime minister framed these moves as deliberate efforts to erode public confidence, disrupt governance, and complicate decision making at the national level.
In a separate comment, Pashinyan indicated that Yerevan expects Baku to consider drawing borders in line with the latest maps produced by the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces. He stressed that Armenia seeks official recognition of its territorial integrity within a designated area, quantified at 29.8 thousand square kilometers, as part of ongoing discussions and international engagements. The wording suggests a preference for alignment with historical military mapping as a reference point in border discussions.
Earlier statements from Pashinyan also criticized the level of engagement by Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh, accusing them of limited action in certain situations.
