In Gyumri, Armenian authorities detained participants after an unauthorized rally near a Russian military facility. The information came from Sputnik Armenia citing statements from Zarzand Gabrielyan, who leads the Armenian police public relations department.
Witnesses described a crowd converging on the road leading to the 102nd military base of the Russian Armed Forces. A group identified as 65 activists from the National Democratic Pole, a radical political organization, were taken into custody. The demonstrators sought to block access to the base to protest what they described as the Lachin corridor closure and its humanitarian impact.
Vahe Gasparyan, a former member of the opposition group associated with the National Democratic Pole, signaled that the protest would continue and could impede the 102nd base of the Russian forces if the Lachin corridor remained shut.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh had worsened due to Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin corridor, highlighting ongoing concerns about civilian access and regional stability. (Source attribution: Sputnik Armenia)
