The Official Bulletin of the Province of Alicante published this Thursday the call for subsidies from the Diputación for grants to municipalities to draft and evaluate gender equality plans, with a deadline to complete, implement, and justify these plans by November 8, leaving no option for extension. The Socialist group in the provincial assembly criticized the move, arguing that the window offered to access the grant is far too short and will disadvantage smaller towns. The administration led by Toni Pérez was asked for comment but chose not to respond at this time.
The socialist spokesperson Vicente Arques called the publication of the subsidies on October 17 and the requirement to justify them by November 8 a scandal. He said that Toni Pérez and his team do not share the reality faced by smaller municipalities and do not demonstrate empathy toward their neighbors. The Official Bulletin states that subsidies will become effective for the beneficiary entities once the justification has been submitted, within the period from the date of the subsidy resolution to the upcoming November 8.

The socialist deputy and mayor of Fageca, Ismael Vidal, also spoke on the matter. He noted that as the year winds down, the pace accelerates. Publishing a subsidy in mid-October and requiring its justification in November can push municipalities to compete under unequal conditions and raises concerns about fair access for all communities.
