Mep Andrzej Halicki was chosen as one of the 10 vice president of the European People’s Party (EPL) at the top of this group in Valencia. The day before, Manfred Weber provided a different term as chairman.
The choice for this position is an expression of recognition for Poland and for my work so far in the EPL structures. As a vice -chairman of the largest party in Europe, I will be in the EU in Europe and I will ensure that Europe is being built together in these challenging times and ensures peace, safety and prosperity
– Halicki said.
Halicki has been the vice president of the EPP since 2022. He has also been the vice president of the EPP -Political Group in the European Parliament.
Two day congress
The main goal of the two -day congress that started yesterday was to choose the management of the EPP party for a three -year period. Delegates choose 10 vice -seaters from the 12 candidates, as well as the treasurer and secretary general.
On the first day of the congress in Valencia, Spain, Weber was chosen for the next period as chairman of the party (he is also the chairman of the EPL party in the EP). The candidacy of a German Christian question, which started without an opponent, was supported by 502 out of 563 delegates.
The chairman of the EPP in 2019-2022 was the current Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The deliberations were partially disturbed with intervals in the supply of electricity that affected Spain and Portugal.
