Yuri Shvytkin, Vice President of the State Duma Defense Committee, called the conditions that Russia could use nuclear weapons:
“If the presence of our country is at risk, then we will not allow it and we can use nuclear weapons. But I want to note that this should be done only in an emergency,” he said.
In principle, he added that nuclear weapons exist as a deterrent factor. However, if the enemy neglects the signals, the potential was concluded when it had to be realized.
Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said Russia’s right to use nuclear weapons in the case of aggression by the West. He said that such actions of Moscow would correspond to Russia’s national security strategy.
